What is the ET curve and how does it work?
The ET curve (Energy/Temperature curve, also called an energy signature) is a scatter plot that shows the relationship between your building's weekly energy consumption per m² and the outdoor temperature. It helps you understand how weather-dependent your building's energy use is.
How it works
- The system fetches weekly energy consumption from your selected meters and divides by the building's total area (BRA) to get kWh/m² per week.
- It fetches outdoor temperature data for your building's location and calculates a weekly average temperature.
- Each week becomes a dot on the chart: X-axis = average outdoor temperature (°C), Y-axis = energy consumption (kWh/m²/week).
What you see on the chart
- Scatter dots colored by year (current year in cyan, previous year in violet, older in green/amber). Recent weeks (last 4) are highlighted with a red ring.
- Baseline (purple line): A linear regression computed from all data points. This is your building's average energy response to temperature.
- ±N% bands (orange upper, green lower): Configurable deviation bands around the baseline (default ±10%). Points outside these bands are weeks where consumption was unusually high or low.
Controls
- Period: Choose 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months of data.
- Baseline toggle: Show or hide the regression line.
- Bands toggle: Show or hide the ±% deviation bands.
- Meter selector: Choose which energy meters to include. Defaults to building-level meters.
Where: Analytics → Energy, then switch the view toggle at the left of the toolbar to ET Curve (select a building from the dropdown first).
