How do I see energy spot prices and costs on my analytics dashboard?

The Energy analytics dashboard can overlay real-time ENTSO-E spot prices and estimated costs directly on your consumption chart. This lets you see how your energy usage correlates with market prices.

Prerequisites — one-time setup

  1. Your building must have an energy price zone set. Go to Buildings → select your building → Overview tab → find the "Energy Price Zone" field → enter your zone code (e.g. DK1, NO1, SE3). If your building address was entered correctly, the zone may already be auto-detected.

  2. Once the zone is set, the system automatically fetches hourly spot prices from ENTSO-E for your region.

How to use the overlays on the chart

On the Energy dashboard (Analytics → Energy), above the consumption chart you will see a row of toggle buttons:

  • Energy Price (green toggle, chart icon) — shows the hourly spot price as a green dashed line on a secondary Y-axis. The axis label shows "/kWh". This is the raw wholesale electricity price for your building's zone.

  • Cost (amber toggle, banknotes icon) — shows the estimated energy cost as an amber dashed line on a third Y-axis. The cost at each time point is calculated as: consumption (kWh) × spot price at that hour. This gives you a per-period cost estimate.

  • Temperature (blue/red toggle) — optional outdoor temperature overlay for correlation analysis.

What the cost line tells you

The cost line combines your actual consumption with the real market price. High cost peaks mean either high usage, high spot price, or both. Use this to identify expensive consumption patterns — for example, running equipment during peak price hours.

Where to start: Analytics → Energy tab → select a building from the dropdown → toggle the Energy Price and Cost buttons above the chart.
