How do I connect my building to an energy price area for spot pricing?

To use real-time electricity spot prices in your billing, your building must be linked to an energy price zone. This tells the system which ENTSO-E market area to fetch hourly prices from.

How to set the price zone

Go to Buildings → select your building → Overview tab
Find the "Energy Price Zone" field (energy_price_zone_id)
Enter the zone code for your area — for example NO1, NO2, SE3, or DK1
Save the building

Automatic zone detection

When you create a building with a valid address, the system attempts to detect the correct price zone automatically based on geolocation. You will see a zone_detection_status field that shows:

"detected" — zone was found with high confidence
"suggested" — multiple candidate zones were found; review and confirm
"pending" — detection is still in progress
"not_found" — the address could not be matched to a known zone

If automatic detection fails, you can set the zone manually using the zone code.

Available price zones

Norway: NO1 (Oslo/Eastern), NO2 (Kristiansand/Southern), NO3 (Trondheim/Central), NO4 (Tromsø/Northern), NO5 (Bergen/Western)
Sweden: SE1 (Luleå), SE2 (Sundsvall), SE3 (Stockholm), SE4 (Malmö)
Denmark: DK1 (Jutland/Funen), DK2 (Zealand)
Finland/Baltics: FI, EE, LT, LV
Central Europe: DE-LU, NL, FR, GB, and more

Why this matters: Without a price zone, the system defaults to NO1 (Oslo). If your building is in Bergen (NO5) or Tromsø (NO4), electricity prices can differ significantly — sometimes by 50 øre/kWh or more. Setting the correct zone ensures invoices reflect real market prices for your area.
