Why is my building using NO1 prices when it should be in a different price zone?

If your building's electricity costs are being calculated with NO1 (Oslo) spot prices but the building is located in a different region, the price zone is either not set or was not detected correctly.

Troubleshooting checklist

1. Check the price zone field:

   • Go to Buildings → select your building → Overview tab
   • Look at the "Energy Price Zone" field
   • If it is empty, the system defaults to NO1 for all spot price calculations

2. Check zone detection status:

   • The zone_detection_status field shows: "detected", "suggested", "pending", "not_found", or "error"
   • If "not_found" or "error", automatic detection failed — set the zone manually

3. Verify the building address:

   • Zone detection uses the building's address, city, and postal code to geolocate and match to a price area
   • If the address is incomplete or incorrect, detection may fail or pick the wrong zone
   • Update the address and save — detection will re-run automatically

4. Set the zone manually:

   • In the Energy Price Zone field, enter the correct zone code (e.g. NO5 for Bergen, NO4 for Tromsø, SE3 for Stockholm)
   • Save the building
   • All future bill calculations will use the correct zone

Impact of wrong zone: Norwegian price zones can differ by 20-80 øre/kWh depending on the season and hydrology. A building in NO4 (Northern Norway, typically cheaper) being billed at NO1 (Eastern Norway, often more expensive) will result in tenants overpaying. Conversely, a building in NO2 (Southern Norway) billed at NO1 may underpay during high-price periods.

After correcting the zone: Previously generated bills are not automatically recalculated. You may need to regenerate bills for affected periods if the price difference is material.
