Where do I set the spot price zone on my building?

To enable spot pricing on your building, you need to set an energy price zone. Here is a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Go to your building settings

Navigate to Buildings in the sidebar → click on the building you want to configure → you will land on the Overview tab.

Step 2: Find the Energy Price Zone field

Scroll down to the building details section. Look for the field labeled "Energy Price Zone" (also called spot_zone_code). It accepts a zone code like DK1, NO1, SE3, etc.

Step 3: Enter your zone code

Type the Nordpool bidding zone code for your building's location. Common zones:

  • Denmark: DK1 (Jutland/Funen), DK2 (Zealand)
  • Norway: NO1 (Oslo), NO2 (Kristiansand), NO3 (Trondheim), NO4 (Tromsø), NO5 (Bergen)
  • Sweden: SE1 (Luleå), SE2 (Sundsvall), SE3 (Stockholm), SE4 (Malmö)
  • Finland: FI
  • Baltics: EE (Estonia), LV (Latvia), LT (Lithuania)
  • Central Europe: DE (Germany), NL (Netherlands), FR (France)

Step 4: Save

Click Save. The system will resolve your zone code to the correct ENTSO-E market area and start fetching spot prices.

Automatic detection

When you first create a building with a valid address, the system tries to detect the zone automatically from geolocation. Check the zone_detection_status field — if it says "detected", the zone is already set. If it says "not_found", enter the zone manually.

What happens after you set it

  • Analytics → Energy dashboard will show the "Energy Price" and "Cost" toggle buttons
  • Billing can use spot prices instead of fixed rates for electricity invoices
  • The stat bar on the Energy dashboard shows the zone code and average spot price

Where to check: Buildings → select building → Overview tab → Energy Price Zone field.
