My meter shows inactive or maintenance status — what does that mean?
Every meter has a status that controls whether it is included in dashboards and reports:
Active: The meter is operational and its data is displayed in dashboards, included in reports, and used for billing calculations. This is the normal operating status.
Inactive: The meter is disabled. Its data is NOT shown in any dashboard or report. Use this when a meter is decommissioned, temporarily removed, or being replaced. Inactive meters still exist in the system and their historical data is preserved.
Maintenance: The meter is temporarily out of service for maintenance or calibration. Data during the maintenance period may be unreliable. The meter is excluded from dashboards during maintenance but you can reactivate it when maintenance is complete.
Faulty: The meter has been flagged as malfunctioning. Data from faulty meters is excluded from dashboards and reports to prevent inaccurate figures. Readings during the faulty period may need manual correction via Analytics → Data Fix.
If your meter data suddenly disappeared from dashboards, check the meter status first:
- Go to Buildings → select your building → Meters tab
- Find the meter and check its status badge
- If it shows anything other than "Active", click to edit and change the status back to "Active"
Note: Only users with edit permissions on the building can change meter statuses. If you cannot change the status, contact your account administrator.
