How do the Insights dashboard metrics work?

The Insights tab in Analytics provides a higher-level analysis of your building's performance:

What Insights shows

• Consumption trends over time (increasing, stable, decreasing)
• Anomaly detection — flags unusual spikes or drops in consumption
• Period-over-period comparisons (this month vs last month, this quarter vs same quarter last year)
• Energy intensity metrics (kWh per m² of building area)

How it differs from the Energy tab

The Energy tab shows raw consumption data in charts. The Insights tab interprets that data — it tells you what's noteworthy, what changed, and what might need attention.

Key metrics explained

• Total consumption: Sum of all readings for the selected period
• Peak consumption: Highest single reading/interval in the period
• Average daily consumption: Total divided by number of days
• Cost estimate: Consumption × configured unit price (if energy prices are set)
• Trend direction: Whether consumption is trending up or down compared to the previous period

Requirements

• At least one building with active meters and readings
• Sufficient historical data for trend analysis (minimum 2 months recommended)
• Building area must be set for intensity metrics (kWh/m²)

Where to find it: Analytics → Insights tab. Select a building from the dropdown to see building-specific insights.
