General troubleshooting: data not appearing in the platform

If data isn't showing where you expect it, work through this master checklist:

Level 1 — Account & Module

  • Is the analytics module enabled for your account? Check if the Analytics sidebar menu is visible.
  • Do you have the correct user permissions to view analytics data?

Level 2 — Building

  • Is a building selected in the dashboard header dropdown? "Select building..." means nothing is selected.
  • Is the building linked to the analytics engine? See "What is the building facility link and why does my building need it?"

Level 3 — Meters

  • Does the building have meters? Go to Buildings → select building → Meters tab.
  • Are the meters active? Only status = "active" meters show in dashboards.
  • Is the meter type correct? Heating meters show on Energy tab, water meters on Water tab.
  • Is the assignment type correct? Building-level meters show in the main dashboard; tenant/local meters may only show in tenant-specific views.

Level 4 — Data

  • Are there readings for the meter? Check Analytics → Data Import for import status.
  • Are readings within the selected date range? Adjust the date picker.
  • Is the value type correct? Cumulative vs period affects consumption calculation.
  • Are readings validated? Rejected readings are excluded from charts.

Level 5 — Import Source

  • Is the data source configured? Check Analytics → Data Import.
  • What's the import health status? Green = healthy, red = stale/broken.
  • Are there error messages in the import log?

Still stuck?

If all checks pass but data still doesn't appear, it may be a caching issue — try refreshing the page. If the problem persists, contact support with your building name and meter details.
