What energy prices does the platform show — are they the real spot price?
Yes. The energy prices you see in Analytics are pure, raw spot prices fetched directly from ENTSO-E (the European electricity market operator). These are day-ahead market prices — the wholesale cost of electricity before any grid fees, taxes, or supplier margins are added.
What "raw spot price" means
The spot price is what electricity trades for on the open market each hour. It fluctuates based on supply and demand — wind and solar production, hydro reservoir levels, temperature, and cross-border transmission. The platform fetches these prices daily and stores them per price zone. We support 13 countries with zones like NO1–NO5 (Norway), SE1–SE4 (Sweden), DK1–DK2 (Denmark), FI (Finland), DE-LU (Germany), GB (UK), FR (France), IT zones (Italy), ES (Spain), PT (Portugal), PL (Poland), NL (Netherlands), and EE (Estonia).
Where you see spot prices in Analytics
In the Energy dashboard (Analytics → Energy), you can toggle the "Energy Price" overlay on the consumption chart. This overlays the hourly spot price curve on top of your consumption bars, so you can see how your usage correlates with price peaks and valleys.
Important — these are NOT your final electricity costs. Your actual cost per kWh includes additional components on top of the spot price:
- Grid/network fees — charged by the local grid operator for transporting electricity
- Energy taxes and levies — government charges that vary by country
- Supplier margin — your electricity retailer's markup
- VAT/sales tax — varies by country (e.g., 25% in Scandinavia, 19% in Germany, 21% in Netherlands)
To account for these extras when billing tenants, you add a surcharge in your billing template. Go to Tenant Billing → Templates → edit your template → set "Surcharge/Markup %" on each line item. A small surcharge (e.g., 10–20%) approximates grid fees and taxes. For exact figures, check the itemized breakdown on your incoming bill from your energy provider.
