Why do I need to preview before applying Data Fix?
The Data Fix engine requires you to preview changes before applying them. This preview-then-apply workflow protects your data from accidental modifications.
Preview step
When you click "Preview Changes", the engine analyzes your meter data without modifying anything. It returns:
- Number of issues detected and how many can be fixed
- Quality score before and after (percentage)
- A secure confirmation token linked to your preview
No readings are touched during preview — it is a read-only analysis.
Apply step
When you click "Apply Fixes", the engine verifies your confirmation token to ensure:
- The fixes match the meter you previewed
- The preview is still recent and valid
- Your account owns the data being modified
Once verified, all corrections are applied in a single database transaction. If anything fails, the entire operation rolls back — no partial changes are made to your data.
Why this matters
- You get to review exactly what will change before anything is modified
- The confirmation token prevents fixes from being applied to the wrong meter
- If your data changed since the preview (e.g., new readings arrived), the engine re-analyzes fresh data before applying
- Stale previews are automatically rejected — if too much time passes, simply click "Preview Changes" again
Typical workflow
- Select your meter and time period
- Click "Preview Changes" and review the results
- If the quality improvement looks right, click "Apply Fixes"
- The success message confirms the number of fixes applied
Where this happens: Analytics → Data Fix → select meter → Preview Changes → Apply Fixes.
