Why am I being asked for a verification code or told MFA is required?
Some actions in the platform require enhanced security through two-factor authentication (2FA/MFA). When you see a message like "MFA Required" or are asked to enter a verification code, it means the action you are trying to perform needs a higher authentication assurance level.
Actions that require 2FA
- Managing your subscription (upgrading, downgrading, or cancelling)
- Activating premium features or extensions
- Other sensitive account operations
If you have NOT set up 2FA yet
- Go to Account → Security tab
- Click "Enable 2FA"
- Follow the setup steps (scan QR code, enter verification code)
- Once enabled, return to the action you were trying to perform
If you HAVE 2FA set up but still see the prompt
Your 2FA needs to be verified for the current session. This happens when you haven't entered your authenticator code during this login session:
- You will see a verification prompt
- Open your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password)
- Enter the current 6-digit code
- Once verified, you can proceed with the protected action
What are AAL1 and AAL2?
- AAL1 (Authenticator Assurance Level 1): You logged in with just a password. Basic access is available.
- AAL2 (Authenticator Assurance Level 2): You logged in with password AND verified your 2FA code. Full access including sensitive operations.
Tip: Enable 2FA proactively so you are not interrupted when performing sensitive actions. It only takes a minute to set up and significantly improves your account security.
