What is the meter topology view and how does it work?

The Meter Topology page (Analytics → Formula Meters) shows a visual hierarchy of your building's meters — which meter feeds into which, and how consumption flows from main meters down to sub-meters.

Two view modes

  • Canvas view — An interactive drag-and-drop editor where meters appear as cards connected by arrows. You can drag meters to rearrange them, draw connections by dragging from one meter's bottom handle to another's top handle, and click connections to delete them.
  • Table view — A hierarchical tree table with expandable rows. Each row shows the meter name, type, parent meter (editable via dropdown), topology level (L0 = main, L1+ = sub-meter), consumption, unmeasured consumption, status, data freshness, and totalization toggle.

Energy type tabs filter meters by carrier type: Electricity, Heating, Water, Cooling, or Gas. If you have fewer than 20 meters and multiple types, an "All Types" tab also appears. Environmental sensors (CO₂, temperature, humidity, occupancy), HVAC sensors, parking, and waste meters are excluded from the topology view because they do not participate in consumption hierarchies.

What you see per meter

  • Meter name and number with energy type icon and color (yellow = electricity, orange = heating, blue = water, cyan = cooling, red = gas)
  • Status badge (active, error, maintenance, inactive)
  • Topology level (L0 for root meters, L1+ for children)
  • Consumption for the selected time period with percentage of parent
  • Sub-meter breakdown showing children total vs unmeasured consumption
  • Data freshness indicator (Fresh, Delayed, or Missing)
