What is the building facility link and why does my building need it?

The "facility link" is the connection between your building in the main application and the analytics engine that holds meter readings.

Why it matters

The platform keeps high-frequency meter readings, consumption calculations, and time-series data in a separate analytics engine. Your building must be linked to a "facility" in that engine for data to flow.

What happens without it

  • The Energy, Water, Gas, and Waste dashboard tabs will show "No data available"
  • Data imports may succeed but the data won't appear in charts
  • Reports that depend on consumption data will be empty

How it gets created

Usually, the facility link is created automatically when you:

  • Set up your first data import source for a building
  • Connect the first meter to the analytics engine
  • Complete the building setup wizard

If the link is missing

This can happen if the building was created before the analytics module was enabled, or if there was an issue during setup. Contact your administrator or support to have the facility link established.

How to check: You can verify the link exists by checking if your building shows consumption data in Analytics → Energy. If the building appears in the dropdown but shows no data despite having active meters with readings, the facility link may be missing.
