How do I set weekly operating hours for tenants in cost allocation?
To use the "Area × Hours" allocation method, each tenant needs a weekly_operating_hours value. This tells the system how many hours per week the tenant occupies and uses their space.
How to set operating hours
- Go to Cost Allocation → select your building
- Click the "Area × Hours" button (emerald/teal gradient) at the top
- Next to each tenant, you will see an "Hours/week" field — click it to open the hours editor
- Choose a preset or enter custom values:
- Office: 5 days × 8 hours = 40 h/week
- Retail: 6 days × 10 hours = 60 h/week
- Extended: 7 days × 12 hours = 84 h/week
- 24/7: 7 days × 24 hours = 168 h/week
- Or set custom days per week (1–7) and hours per day (1–24)
- Click "Save" — the system recalculates allocation percentages immediately
What if a tenant has no hours set?
The system uses a fallback: it calculates the average weekly hours from all tenants that DO have hours configured. If no tenants have hours set at all, it defaults to 40 hours per week for everyone — which effectively makes the result identical to pure area-based allocation.
The hours value is stored on the tenant record (weekly_operating_hours field, range 0–168). You can also set it when creating or editing a tenant in Tenant Hub. The value persists and is used whenever you run Area × Hours calculations.
Tip: Review operating hours periodically. If a retail tenant extends their opening hours seasonally (e.g., longer hours in December), update their weekly hours to keep allocation accurate. The change takes effect on the next billing cycle.
Where to manage: Cost Allocation → select building → click "Area × Hours" → edit hours per tenant. Alternatively: Tenant Hub → select tenant → edit the weekly_operating_hours field directly.
