Why don't I see the vacancy cost sharing slider?

The vacancy cost sharing slider only appears on the Cost Allocation page under specific conditions. If you don't see it, check these things:

1. Your building must be less than 100% occupied.

The slider only shows when there are actually vacant units. If all your rentable area is occupied by active tenants, there's no vacancy to share — the slider is hidden. Check: look at the "Building Utilization" section on the Cost Allocation page. If it shows 100% occupancy, the slider won't appear.

2. You need to select a building first.

The vacancy cost sharing is a per-building setting. Make sure you've selected a specific building from the building dropdown at the top of the Cost Allocation page.

3. Tenants must have building local assignments.

The occupancy calculation is based on the effective area of tenants (sum of their assigned building locals). If your tenants don't have locals assigned, the system can't calculate occupancy. Go to Tenant Hub → select tenant → verify they have active building local assignments.

4. The building must have rentable_area set.

If rentable_area is zero or not set, the system can't calculate occupancy percentage. Go to Buildings → edit your building → ensure "Rentable Area" has a value greater than zero.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • Building selected on Cost Allocation page
  • Building has rentable_area > 0
  • At least one tenant has active local assignments
  • Occupancy is below 100% (some rentable area is unoccupied)
  • Check the Building Utilization panel — it shows "Available" area in orange if vacant

Where to check: Cost Allocation → select building → look for the amber "Vacancy Cost Sharing" panel between Building Utilization and Allocation Matrix Distribution.
