How can I identify which energy costs are highest using the billing dashboard?

The Tenant Billing dashboard gives you a quick breakdown of all incoming costs by category. Here's how to use it strategically:

Step 1: Open the Tenant Billing page and select "All Buildings" in the building filter. Set the period to YTD (Year to Date) to see cumulative costs.

Step 2: Read the Category Breakdown. The dashboard shows totals grouped by invoice type — electricity, heating, water, gas, waste, insurance, and others. The largest number is your primary cost driver. For most Norwegian commercial buildings, electricity and heating together account for 60-80% of total utility costs.

Step 3: Compare months. Switch to Monthly view and click through each month. Look for seasonal patterns:

• Heating costs spike October–March — this is normal, but the magnitude matters. Compare this year vs last year.
• Electricity stays flat year-round — look for base-load waste (equipment running 24/7 when the building is unoccupied on evenings/weekends).
• Water spikes in summer — could indicate irrigation or cooling tower usage.

Step 4: Use the chatbot for quick lookups. Ask me: "What were my electricity invoices for Q1 2025?" or "Show me all heating invoices for Building X." I can search your invoices by type, building, date range, and amount.

Step 5: Drill into specific invoices. From the Invoices page, filter by the category you want to investigate. Check if consumption (kWh, m³) is also rising, or just the price per unit.
