How can I use invoice search to compare supplier pricing across periods?
The Invoices page stores all uploaded supplier invoices with company name, invoice type, total amount, consumption data (kWh, m³), and period. This makes it a powerful tool for comparing what you pay different suppliers.
Compare a single supplier over time
On the Invoices page, use the search bar to filter by company name (e.g., "Hafslund", "Fjordkraft"). The results show all invoices from that supplier sorted by date, so you can see how pricing has changed.
Compare different suppliers
If you've received quotes or switched providers, upload invoices from both and compare total_amount for similar consumption periods and buildings.
Calculate effective cost per unit
For energy invoices, the system extracts both the total amount and consumption (kWh). Your effective cost per kWh = total_amount ÷ consumption. This includes all fees, grid charges, and taxes — giving you the true cost, not just the advertised spot rate.
Chatbot shortcut: Ask me: "What did I pay [company] for electricity in 2024 vs 2025?" — I can search invoices by company name and date range to compare amounts.
What to investigate
- Same building, different unit costs across periods — check if your tariff structure changed or if network fees increased.
- Different buildings, different unit costs from same provider — you might be on different contracts. Consolidating could save money.
- Consumption-weighted comparison — a higher total bill doesn't mean worse pricing if consumption also increased. Always compare per-unit costs.
