What Is an EOS System? Energy Follow-Up Explained

An EOS system (from the Nordic term energioppfølgingssystem, “energy follow-up system”) collects meter data automatically, tracks energy consumption over time, and alerts you when something deviates from normal. Internationally, the same category of software is called an EMS — energy management system. If a Nordic vendor or tender mentions “EOS”, this is what they mean.
Why energy follow-up?
You cannot reduce what you do not measure. Commercial buildings routinely waste energy on wrong operating schedules, technical faults, and forgotten settings — deviations nobody spots without the numbers in front of them. EOS or building management system (BMS)?
A BMS (building management system; in Norway an SD-anlegg) controls the technical installations in one building — heating, ventilation, cooling.
